Powell Square building and Chouteau's landing

The other landing... Most everyone in and around St. Louis knows about "the Landing", Laclede's that is. The almost on the riverfront spread full of bars, clubs and drunken teens and twenty-somethings. Not so far to the south however, just on the other side of the Arch is the other landing, Chouteau's. Right now Chouteau's landing is sitting with some horribly neglected, yet potentially beautiful buildings and some businesses that few have heard of. Without further ado...

This tagger expresses some feelings about the inability for this area to get developed....

I don't even want to know...

Shell Building

This wonderful building is located downtown, just east of the Main Library and "homeless" park, aka Lucas Gardens. I think this is one of the neatest buildings in St. Louis. I love buildings built on a curve and I love lights on a building... this is a 2 for 1 special.

This is my pup Serpico enjoying the Waterfall in Forest Park near the golf course. He loves splashing in the water.

Continental Life Clock

I'm thinking vandals got to the clock located on the Continental Life Building, (you know, the real tall one by the Fox). I noticed some glass on the sidewalk and both sides of the clock glass were broken...

I love this factory.

This is the old Brown Shoe Factory located at Jefferson and Mullanphy. It is such a cool building! I mean look at the spiral fire escape, so cool!

Old Seventh District Police Station

Before the St. Louis Metro PD divided itself into 9 districts with 3 area stations, each district had it's own station. Most are barely recognizable, however some are still around in some shape or form. The one featured today is located at Grand and Magnolia. It used to house the 7th district, plus the stables. It is now in the process of being turned into lofts, but luckily it seems that those in control of the project are keeping the cool wrought iron atop the entrance!

Pevely Plant closing...

Pevely in St. Louis is going out of business and closing up shop.. Such a shame as they operate a huge facility at South Grand and Chouteau...
